About This Spot

Stepping up to Reids, you find yourself in the kind of local hotspot that wears its history with quiet pride. Nestled on Lake Avenue in Lockport, this fast food stand slows the world down just enough to savor simple pleasures—a steady hum of friendly chatter, the clatter of onion rings being flipped, and the inviting, nostalgic scent of grilled hot dogs and burgers mingling with the summer breeze.

The atmosphere is straightforward and unpretentious, where the line outside feels more like a neighborhood ritual than a wait. Picnic benches under shady trees offer a place to catch your breath, whether you’re with family or just taking a solo moment to enjoy the unhurried rhythm that comes with comfort food done its own way. Staff move swiftly but with warmth, creating a casual vibe that makes it easy to settle in and feel at home.

Reids is a destination for those who appreciate the art of straightforward, honest fast food—where a double cheeseburger smothered in sauce and paired with perfectly crispy onion rings tells a story all its own. The white hots, a regional treasure here, come with just the right balance of sauce and bite, standing as a testament to decades of local taste and tradition. Accompanying fries, shakes, and even a nostalgic banana split offer sweet and salty notes that round out the experience, making each visit a small celebration of everyday flavors.

What lingers most isn’t just the food, but the feeling of being part of a long, shared history—whether you’re remembering summers gone by or creating new ones under the shade of familiar picnic tables. Reids isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a place to belong for a few moments amidst the hum of Lockport life.

Was a slow day when we visited so we got plenty of attention from employees and the seagull's. Tge place is just how I remembered from my younger days. Where else can go and feed 4 people fir $25. The ice cream store next door was exceptional.

I stopped here for a hotdog and onion rings, delicious. Don't let the long lines fool you, service is quick. They have picnic benches in the shade and lots of parking. The prices are decent as well.

Hands downs best plain burgers and hot dogs around i can eat so many... their awesome prices and top notch milkshake. Super fast like true fast food.... now the only bad thing and I mean the only bad thing i can think of is which if you order as family it comes out in big pile of food and hard to tell whose food is who but not even mad just could be touch better... other than that Ill be back again and again

My goodness. I used to drive by after eating lunch on the way through over the last 15 years seeing the lineups of people and thought I need to eat here. Why did I just eat chain fast food. So I finally came and made a point of visiting. I dont know what to try so I asked 4 people what to get and the consensus came quick: a double cheeseburger smothered with sauce and onion rings , loganberry drink and raspberry milkshake, $13. What a meal. Best quick service meal I've had in a very long time. Maybe best I've ever had. Great job and now I know why this place is usually lined up most of the day. Greetings from Canada.

I have been going to Reids since 1955..ok I am old. Growing up I loved the White Hots with sauce and fries. When I was 18 I went to college and came back summers and indulged in my favorite dogs. My mom lived nearby, so visits to her included visits to Reids. Then my mom moved away in 2011 and that was it. However I got the cravings. Earlier this month my mom passed at 102. This meant a trip to Lockport from NYC for the Burial. So I strategized the trip with White Hot Dogs in mind. When we arrived in Lockport we headed straight for Reids. When I turned onto Lockport Olcott road nearing Reids my mouth watered. It was a beautiful March day, 2025, I ordered my 2 white hots with sauce. I bought my Daughter in Law one as she had never experienced this. They were exactly the way they were years and years ago. So amazing. This is one of the treasures in American that we never forget. I will be back someday....

Love the White hot and the Red hot. Amazing flavors that you don't often get. Plenty of other great things on the menu and ice cream for dessert. There are plenty of picnic tables and some indoor seating too.

Reid's is a classic roadside hots stand that has been around for over 75 years. When I say roadside, I mean that literally. You are standing on the sidewalk when you order. The prices are very very reasonable and the quality is great. It's close proximity to the Erie Canal trail makes it a perfect stop on a long bike ride.
